Dedicated Sport Shooter Status

In terms of the Firearms Control (Act 60 of 2000), an accredited Sport Shooting Association, may register its members as a dedicated sport shooter, if such a member is a member in good standing and the member has completed the prescribed training course as set out for dedicated sports shooters.

A member with a dedicated sport shooter status may apply for their firearm under section 16 of the act. A comprehensive motivation still needs to be submitted with each application and dedicated status alone does not guarantee license approval.

A member who has been granted dedicated status and maintains the status as prescribed in Act the rules of the sports shooting framework of the NARFO, may hold in their possession more than 200 rounds of ammunition for which they have the relevant license and may also possess more than 2400 primers.
